My thoughts on Window Vista
Well let me first start by saying, it not half as bad as people have made it out to be. HP should be glad I am not writing about them, still annoyed with them. I like Window Vista but there are a couple of things I do not like about it. I can not say their is anything I hate about window vista, I do have a few things that annoy me. A while back my computer crashed, I had gave it to my husband and it got a virus. I had recording software in it which now is useless, it was made for XP and earlier. Okay when I bought the software a year ago I was making sure it was Window Vista Compatible because I didn’t think I’d get Vista anytime soon, and honestly got it a lot sooner then I thought I would.
The things I like most about Window Vista, even though we had tried to reinstall XP it would not bring the computer back up. We thought the Hard drive had fried, I will need a new Hard drive but not to replace the old one but to help whatever recording studio I decide to get next or at least the software program. Vista, was able to get the hard drive back up and allowed me to retrieve my files, now I do need to clean the drive because I am sick of the start up, I have to tell it if I want it to start with Vista or the earlier edition of Windows. Well Dah I want the newest install of Windows Vista, Why would I want to go back to the old which is broken. Seriously I don’t want to crash it again. There are some issues with the Hard drive so I am tempted to call Windows, and explain to them that I need to reformat the whole hard drive and then reinstall. I hope my license will still be mine. I have a few files from XP I am unable to get raid of, so my biggest dislike is the start up.
My next dislike with Vista is that Outlook is not in there, I like Outlook for my home email. That is okay I can use Thunderbird. They are good I switch over to them on XP a while ago when I was having issues with Outlook Express. So no problem. The other thing which is annoying and keep in mind I got Window Vista Business, there are no games in it. Like the ones you normally get when you buy a new computer, okay I can handle that I hardly ever play games unless I need to do a brainless thing for a while to help me think or clear my mind. I can solve this problem by playing either my PSP or the DS not a big deal. But sometimes I like those computer games, I can download if I really want them. Considering I am mostly using the desktop for my music and when I go back to school for that if they changed to Vista. Okay so the problems I have I can work around and they aren’t bad at all. There are ways to handle it.
Now what I love about Vista, I like the little gadget thing on the side of the computer screen, it got a calender, clock and weather is what my computer was set with when I got it back from our Rabbi. Praise the L-rd for Rabbi, I am not sure if he set those gadgets up with what he felt I might like, if he did he got it pretty much right.
I think the weather thing is great, it not from Weather bug at least I don’t think, but it gives the local temperatures. Living in Minnesota it’s nice to have that feature, but weather bug is kind of a pain, I have uninstalled it out of all my computers. Weather bug kept giving me weather warnings which did not even affect my area, did the same to hubby. So I have been going to their site, or to our local news station site to find it out. So far we have not had any serious weather in our area or state so I guess this summer will tell us if Vista weather maker isn’t that great but so far it is good. My husband has vista to and uses his desktop computer always, and said he likes that feature to. I like it because it also one less thing for hubby to have to download in his computer. LOL Hubby likes packing his computer with a bunch of stuff he’s a gamer.
I like that Vista did not add Window Works. I do not like Works, I used to but when I started using Office I started using that only for college. To bad Vista Business did not have a trail use of Word in there, that would have been nice, but my hubby wants Office to so we will buy one with 3 downloads and use that for us. The good thing is if our computers crash we can replace the Office a lot easier then if it crashed and we lost everything after downloading it on line. I just feel window Works takes up extra space, I have it in my laptop and have never used it, but not sure deleting it would do my laptop any favors worried Office might be attached to something that if I remove Works would cause trouble with Office but then again I have that CD so it wouldn’t mater it just be a pain.
I like what Vista has done to Explore, and their internet security. Yes I have to give the computer permission to do things but that good sometimes. I would much rather Vista ask are you sure, Xp never really did that. Vista also has a feature the helps you decide if a program will work well with Vista. I haven’t ran into this problem to much because most everything I have downloaded is for Vista, and things I need, or at least the program gets a long with vista.
I personally found Vista to be easy to learn, it not so different from XP that it is impossible but it is different. I think Windows improved on what they wanted, yes like all new software it had it’s trouble to begin with. Nothing ever starts out perfectly, but I think it might be safe now to have Vista, some of the things take a little time getting used to.
