My Motorola w490
This week I ordered a new phone from T-mobile, my old phone was giving me some troubles when I would text people. I am not sure why but it got stuck on the cap locks. I was at the end of my 2 year contract, so extending doesn’t hurt anything. It was a toss up between a couple of phones, the sidekick, the Motorola grape and purple one. I decided to go with this one because I do not use the internet on the cellphone I already have internet at home, so why do I need it on the telephone.
I wanted a Camera phone this time. I really wanted one for my popped tire a couple of weeks ago to show friends how bad it really was, I spent about 2 hours on line trying to decide which phone I like the most. It hard shopping on line because you do not get to handle the telephone. I know I looked at this phone at the T-mobile store on Saturday, but didn’t want to get it there I don’t think they had the grape phone there though.
The phone was 29.00$ with the 2 year extension. I have to say I love it! Texting is so easy on this phone, it has a smart word thing. You type in the letters you want and then it gives you words to pick from, which makes it easier. It a lot easier then my last phone. So know I am texting a lot faster and maybe my girl friend the Text queen won’t over power my cellphone texting me, when I am trying to respond to her first out of 5 text. Don’t ask me how she does it. But at least this seems to speed up my process of texting.
The most impressive thing on this cellphone is the Picture it takes. Wow, I have never seen a better picture from a cellphone and trust me this is my first phone with a camera phone. I never really liked the camera phones because their quality never appealed to me. My texting queen friend sent me a picture of her cat when I had my old phone and I had problems receiving that picture because I never sent a picture to someone. Well dah, because I simply can’t unless I have a camera phone. I think the Motorola W490 camera is great, my husband has a newer camera phone and he don’t get as good of pictures as I do. The one thing I need to figure out is how to zoom my camera better. But I think that will come in time after I get more used to it. I was able to take several pictures of Otis, one thing about the camera can’t have the phone in motion while shooting the picture or the picture will be a little fuzzy but still looks okay.
My phone can play music if I want to down load song. I am not sure I will ever use this feature because I have a MP3 player already, so why do I want to use the phone as one. Since I don’t plan on using the phone for music, I wonder if I will need more memory, I plan on taking a lot of pictures with it. I really enjoy the camera phone feature.
Something I didn’t care about the phone, their were only 2 games in the phone. One was Sudduko and poker tournament. If I want to play Suddukko I have it on the PS3, DS, and PSP, so why would I want to play it on the cellphone. I decided I would download Bejeweled this is a good time waster when things at work is slow and don’t require that much concentration unlike the other 2 games. It took me 4 tries of downloading that game and being told invalid file type. I called T-mobile, and they had me reset the Cell Phone. Then they sent me a free download for the game, this time it went through. Getting the game downloaded was the hardest part of getting what I wanted. But Customer service did great on helping me problem solve this.
I was a little disappointed in the color of grape that I got, it was as purple as it look on line. Don’t get me wrong it’s acceptable and I like the color but was expecting more of a purple color. I really like my new cellphone, it easy to take picture the screen big enough to be able to see games. So overall I would say this is a great phone.
One problem I had receiving the phone, and maybe someone can tell me why it took so long to get from here to management. I checked the tracking number and it showed that they where at the apartment at 12:51 or something, and that someone had signed for it. Well I got worried, so I called management right away this was about this was about 330. I had called management for my apartment building asking them if I had any packages because I was waiting for my new Cell phone. They told me nothing had came. Now I am worried. The cellphone isn’t exactly cheap, and lets face it talking to T-mobile about a lost phone already was the last thing, I wanted to do.
I called UPS right away. I gave them the information they needed and they told me it was delivered to my apartment and signed by some Matos or something. Okay I don’t know anyone by that last name in this building. So I asked did he deliver it to this apartment and this building number. There are 3 other buildings here, plus another apartment complex next to us. She told me it was delivered here. Okay, well I don’t have the Cellphone here, she was like well let me tell you what you can do. After about 20 minutes with her, I told her I was going to walk over to Management! I was going to ask them who this Matos person was and go to their apartment.. Well I got into management and told them, I am speaking with UPS they are telling me, my cellphone been delivered today and same one by this name. My caretaker was there and said UPS was just here. She handed me the package. Okay, so why did it take UPS close to 3 hrs to get my cellphone to the management office which is like a 2 minute walk. In the end I did get the cellphone. When I was talking to T-mobile I shared with the lady what had happened with UPS. I felt it be good for them to know. Now UPS should know to leave a sign on the door or mailbox letting me know that they delivered to the main office. I wouldn’t have freak out if they did this simple act of communicating. I wonder if he ran out of notices and that’s why there was none.
But I really do enjoy my new cellphone. It’s great! I am used to the color now and I am very happy with it. I order my phone late on the 30th and got it on Wednesday, so I was impressed with how quickly they got my new phone to me.
