We have a Papa Murphy’s about a mile or so up the road. I do have to say I don’t much care for there process of making their pizza. They don’t seem to much care about cross contamination. This is a important thing for me to watch. The last couple of pizza hubby and I got from there have actually caused me an unhappy stomach. I have a couple food allergies which can be unpleasant, my hubby has one food allergies. When ordering a pizza even though I would like the ingredient on my pizza I don’t get it. I figure it’s not worth the risk, and he don’t get beef products on a pizza we share.
The last time we went in we order a half cheese, tomato, green olive and the other half a veggie with spanish, and green olives added to the other veggies, with out tomatoes and mushrooms.
My hubby was kind enough to grab some of their Herb Cheese Spread. Now I really like this stuff, it’s more of a shaker type things. I am forgetting the brand this is similar to but I think Papa Murphy’s is better then the well know brand. The other night I made spaghetti and meat balls. I make my meat balls from scratch they are yummy. I don’t do them like other people do their meat balls I use a lot of fresh herbs and put in some of the green onions finely cut up. The herb Cheese spread makes a nice little addition to the spaghetti, it’s not to full of Herbs that it’s over powering.
I guess it complements most Italian foods, I might try it on a dish tonight if I decide to make it tonight. I still have to go grocery shopping maybe when I am out I should price out laptop memory. My laptop running a little slow hopefully in the next 2 to 3 months I can get a new one for school. I will give this one to my hubby. It will cover his needs nicely but for college it is the bare minimum requirements and I would like to improve upon that before the school changes their specs again and I have no chose but buying a new laptop. Well if I do it before the year end I guess I get a good chunk of right of for school.
I feel inclined to respond to this post to state how I feel. I come from a place where greeks and italians with brick baked ovens make your pizza and kick you out if you try to put fruit on your pie, that being said I have no problem bringing papa murphys pizza home and cooking it. First and formost it cost inbetween $3-5 less if not more than same size pizzas from papa johns, dominos, and little cleazers…yes i said cleazers! On top of that you can purchase a pizza in which weighs 7 lbs for $15 same as a 3 topping medium most anywhere else. There is no problem with cross contamination in their product because all the meats are precooked. Saying a papa murphys pizza gets cross contaminated on the ride home before you bake it is to say that my sandwich get cross contaminated in my lunchbox before I eat it for lunch and I should through it out. Besides, if there was cross contamination the FDA and local city and county health inspectiors would not allow them to conduct the process as they have and force them to cook the pies before they handed them to you to bring home. You make a good point that you have food allergies and your husband does too. Period. Some people do. As far as your stomach issue the cause is the olive oil that is in the dough and the sausage and beef fat rising from the meat sauce to the surface of the cheese and also the oils from the cheese. I pride myself in being a conosur of sorts when it comes to real old school style pizzas and you can tell when youve had a good pizza when 30 mins after youre done eating it your body is ready for a movement! If you can cut your pie and you can string the cheese that you couldnt cut from the pizza on the table to your mouth and it not break and 30 mins later you have your movement then you are eating great pizza. Crust is important too, and hands down papa murphys crust is the closest “tasting” to Rays Pizza I have had in my life. That all being said I am very interested in your meat ball recipie with the papa murphys seasoning shaker and would like to know how it turned out. Sounds absolutely delicious. And how the hell do we get on computers anyways from discussing pizzas and meat ball recipies? Anyways, sorry about my rant , hope the meatballs turn out well and let us all know how they turn out. Thanks!
