I have been with T-mobile since 2004, and recently renewed my contract with them for a new phone I wanted this summer. Dad asked if, I could get him a cell phone and I told him yes I can simply add you on to my phone with a family plan. Today we stop at T-Mobile on our way home from service, and spoke with one of their guys. My husband was looking at the Cell phone but for the last year or so he been against a family plan because of a 2 year contract. I don’t care about contracts, I figure T-mobile been very good to me over the last few years so what harm will 2 years do us. I didn’t think my husband would listen to me about getting him on the same service.
I knew a few years ago I was approved for 2 lines, and was approved tonight for 2 lines or have a deposit of 250$. I told the guy that’s to much and isn’t fair, since I been with you all, since like 2004 or maybe 2003. The guy was already calling the number for approval, I got the 3rd line, which was my husband line. No matter what dad would have walked out with his phone tonight, even if that meant hubby didn’t get his phone. I made a promise to dad, he deserves promises kept, so I am glad I got the 3 lines because hubby now doesn’t have to spend more money. He actually saves money. Grant it I ended up spending more money, but I think it’s 10 bucks at most.
My Hubby got a phone which is a MP3 player, am/fm radio, and phone, he really liked the phone and had decided it was better then what he already had. He got the Nokia one, can’t remember the number of the model, just the brand.
Dad was able to get a phone he likes to we got him the Samsung T639, I believe is the number it a nice little flip phone with big enough keys for dad to use. Dad is 86 Years Old, so it’s important to keep it easy. Grant it there’s a camera on the phone, like he going to use that or figure out how to do it.
What we ended up getting was the family plan with 1000 minutes, T-mobile to Mobile, My Fav, and unlimited texting for families. My husband loves getting a bunch of text messages, and well frankly I don’t wanna pay a bunch for texting, so unlimited with him is the wisest choice we had.
It was nice of the guy to call and get a 3rd line approved for the services I am getting, now we are all together, which I like. I didn’t even have to say much to him to get him to do it. I believe they value their long time customers. Hubby no longer has the excuse he out of cell phone minutes, so he can’t talk.. I guess neither do I. Plus we don’t have to worry when we call dad because those minutes don’t take minutes away. I got the cell phone I like this summer with a 2 year contract. I love this phone, although I’ve notice the paint pretty much is wearing off on some of the keys, but I still can tell which keys. I will keep that in mind next time I get a phone. I have my eye on a type I like but hey in close to 2 years they will have more phones to pick from. We found out transferring the number of a Pre-paid phone could take up to over a day, so hubby decided it would be best to just get a new phone number . Hubby is very happy with his new phone.
It is interesting having my fav now, I didn’t know you could pick icons for each of your fav people. Now the problem is I have only 3 people in my favorite list. So I have room for 2 more people. The problem is if we didn’t get the my fav, 1000 minutes wouldn’t have been enough. I will have to decide 2 other people I talk to most often. Most of my friends seem to be on T-mobile. Now maybe with school, I have a few people to add on to that list or a couple of people. I have a couple friends from school but I haven’t been calling them all that much.
At both of the Stores, we went to the one in St. Paul on Ford, and the One here in Edina, on Lyndale and American all did a great job. They answered our question. The one in St. Paul spent time answering my husband question even though at this time hubby wasn’t sure he wanted a family plan. Now, maybe the guy their had something to do with my husband changing his mind. I just hope that it works to our benefit having dad on a cell phone, considering he is living with us it’s probably a good idea this way he can call for help if needed.
So overall T-mobile this week has done a great job with customer service. I called a couple of times to customer service 800 number having a brain fart. After my brain fart they where able to suggest a couple of phone which would work great for dad. Now we will see how well his phone works for him. I know Samsung is a good brand. Nokia I personally don’t care for but they are a good brand too. Just a personal preference. I guess we will get dad used to some modern furniture now that he is up here with us. Dad seems happier living with my husband and I, we will keep taking good care of him.
