  • Ram Restaurant in Clackamas Mall

My husband and I often will eat at RAM for our date nights, we are well known. I would say probably most of management know us, and we normally end up with the same staff person, so normally I do not have to remind them of my allergies. My waitress knows them almost as well as my husband. We are familiar faces and will talk to everyone. Last night our experience was good except for one thing that happened. I probably was sharp with the poor busboy who served our food. I have been wanting a juicy hamburger so I order the Huskie burger with the gluten-free bun and the coleslaw. My husband ordered the french deep sandwich on a gluten-free bun and extra crispy fries. Simple order not to far off what I normally order. I didn’t remind the waitress of my allergy because she already knew what I needed. We had promote service and meet a new manager in training. He was friendly and nice. I had no problem with the service and honest think they was more worried about the error than me.
My hamburger came back with bacon on it. Pork is a more serious allergy than wheat, wheat if I am cross contaminated with I break out, get a upset stomach that last a while and get blisters in my mouth. Unpleasant yes but pork my reaction is way worst than that.. Pork I start having resp troubles, break out in hives, and well my stomach will send it back from where it came. Trying to be polite. It unpleasant. I also got my husband fries and he got my coleslaw. My response to the busboy was I am allergic to almost everything on my plate except for the bun, and even that I can’t have! They took it back and remade it. The manager in training and our poor waitress came back and apologize. I told them not to worry it happens. I don’t get mad often when I do it’s normally because I have felt not heard, and feeling not heard will make me get angry faster than having the problem dealt with.
Ram is good I trust them with my allergies because I have never had a allergic reaction there. I have never needed to take allergy meds after eating there. The staff there is always friendly to us. Some staff will tease my husband and I. I don’t mind being teased but sometimes I get annoyed. Overall I am happy with our experience there.

  • Go Picnic Black Bean Dip and Plantain Chips

    Posted on by Gav

I think this is probably one of my favorite one. I am surprised I liked the black bean ones because I am not a big fan of them. This is a other gluten free item. I can eat it and get filled on it. There are nuts, dark chocolate with orange and a trail mix type of thing. Once again I can take this to work with me and not worry about the effects of bankruptcy would cost me if I spend to much money on lunches. They are 3.99$ a box and I get 4 boxes a week. Sometimes five depending on what I need and how much to go meals I need. They also work nicely for at home too..

  • Go picnic Sunbutter

    Posted on by Gav

Recently I found these at Target and decided to give them a try. I am working at my internship site 36 hours a week. Recently they put me over in the adult program, so lunch is now on me. This is okay but it’s hard to bring lunch when I am traveling close to 2 hours, not many perishable things will last long. I don’t want anything that going to spoil in two hours just in case it takes me longer to get to work than I thought it would, a couple of times it’s taken me close to 2 1/2 hours to get to work these are normally the days I get annoyed. Well back to food.

I like many of the things in the Sunbutter package but I do not care for the crackers. To me the crackers taste like they are stall, they just do not appeal to me much. I like the cookies and nuts that come with it those are good. The sunbutter is also good it’s just the crackers that ruin it for me. This are a bit spendy at 3.99$ but they make bring lunch to work easy and they don’t go bad on my way home, and well shoot I don’t have to eat them the day i bring them to work neither. It’s also gluten free.

  • Date Night at RAM

    Posted on by Gav

I think this must be my husband and my favorite restaurant. We are now known by most of the staff there. I don’t even have to tell them about my allergies they already know and acknowledge it before hand. Last night I order their all American burger, it comes with cheese, onion, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard and ketchup. I ordered it medium rare and it came back just right. This is a improvement from the last couple of times we have been there. It was either to well done or not done enough. Sometimes it hard to find a good balance.
My husband had a Ruben on a Gluten-free bun his fries as quiet often happens came back gross, and not extra crispy. The waiter was good at handling the complaint.

  • Subway again in Vancouver WA

    Posted on by Gav

I needed lunch yesterday, so I decided to walk to subway I was feeling a bit squirelly, and just wanted to get out of the office so I decided to walk. Not sure why but my leg been bugging me like the muscles are just stiff the last couple of days, maybe I stepped wrong, but that part of why I was feeling squirelly, because sometimes walking relieves the pain. I walk to subway and got my GF turkey sandwich, once again they prepared my meal on the other counter away from everything and they wiped everything down before making my sandwich. Once again I didn’t need to take medicines to keep me from getting itchy this makes me happy.

  • Lite House Classic Blue Cheese Dressing

    Posted on by Gav

Where the blue cheese. It taste like blue cheese but there was no chunks of cheese and that just wrong. Overall it was pretty good there is no gluten or MSG so I can eat it and not worry about it. I am surprised that this packet is 240 calories, wow that a lot of calories for such a small packet but it does taste pretty good.

  • Winco Prepared Salad

    Posted on by Gav

Last night I needed something to add to my dinner, and decided a salad would work nicely. I decided to get their salad that has almonds, cranberries and spinach. It was very good. At least it didnt have anything that could come up on a 9 panel drug test no poppyseeds or nothing. I really liked the salad, it was actually very fresh and I was able to finish it tonight with it still being fresh. I am not used to deli style salads being as fresh as this one was so it was a nice change of pace. The only thing I wish I would have had was onions, and more little cherry tomatoes.

  • Idahoan Roasted Garlic & Parmesan

    Posted on by Gav

This one has Roasted garlic, Parmesan and baby reds this is probably my favorite one. Now I wont say the package is like a print letterhead but it’s clear to read. The taste has a good blend of garlic and parmasen cheese. I do not think they actually look like their package once the product is made. I like to mix this one with other flavors and it works well. It adds a pleasant flavor.

  • Idahoan Baby Reds

    Posted on by Gav

I am not a mash potato fan but my husband loves them. He likes the instant mash best, now I like mash potatoes when I make them from scratch but sometimes it easier to just let him have his way. I have to say I like the Idahoan brand for the most and often I can eat them with out worrying about gluten which makes my life a bit easier. Everything is included so I do not have to worry about adding milk and butter just put water in and I am good to go. It takes a lot less time this way too and being limited in time they have been a life savor for me.
They do taste good and I like the baby reds. There are little chunks of potatoes too.

  • Hy-Top Cream Cheese

    Posted on by Gav

This is generic cream cheese, I have to say its not bad but I prefer the name brand in this case for making cheese cake. So future reference might be good on bagels, toast or french toast but as cheese cake not that great. It wasn’t bad it didn’t ruin my recipe but there just a slightly different taste to it then my normal named brand. I pretty much have a good catalog printing of all the generic things which I like and those which are good for something but not for other things. This is one of those products from hy-top where I like the product but just not for cheese cake.
