This movie would have been great had it not hit the 3 strike rule toward the end. It had it in there 4 times, to bad it couldn’t be a keeper because it was pretty good. It is about a man who dream is to be in the CIA, and he goes for training on the farm.
He was the longest to hold out for torture longer then anyone else. Well I guess that’s good, eventually he ended up being a undercover special agent, but really wasn’t. The person he was working with was a snake and was using him, to gain what he wanted. The girl he had the hots for was on the same case but they where not on the same side. His cover was he did data entry for one of their places, and was a programmer so he must of known a lot about ram.
I would recommend this movie for people who don’t care about harsh language in it. It was a fast paced movie and was for the most very good until the end when they where using strong language. Sometimes there is a need for strong language like the very end scene I wouldn’t have really been concerned for the language if they used it. The sound quality was good in this movie once we found the right volume we did not have to change it several times. This makes watching a movie more pleasant. The two main characters had good chemistry to. This movie was well put together even though they reached our strike rule.

  • Spiderwick Chronicles

Let me start me start by saying I think I could have done better in the mixing of the sound tracks then they did. The dialog was very soft through most of the movie but the music was so loud it sometimes felt like it would bust our ear drums by listening to it. There were a couple of places even though the tv was loud we struggled to hear the dialog between some of the actors. Other then this problem the movie was pretty good.
When Spiderwick Chronicles first came out many people said it was a rip off of Harry Potter. In the beginning of the movie, I could see that some what but not really. I think those to movie are pretty much their own movies. This movie had 3 main kids as the important characters and then some mythological creatures. The kids went to go and live in their uncle house, which had been abandoned for nearly 80 years. Then they found a book, that pretty much open their eyes to see what couldn’t be seen.
The mother was left the father, which is why they ended up living in the house. I wouldn’t say it was as good as Harry Potter because it wasn’t but it was good on it own merits. The movie kept up with a good pace. Some places in the movie, we just couldn’t help but laugh and say Oh gross.
I wish their sound controls where better because I think if I wasn’t worried about turning the TV up and down then it would have been more enjoyable, to bad they didn’t have a good audio racks. I found this movie to have some areas where you had to ask questions but never really got any answers for the question. Like where did all the stuff come from in the little elevator thing. Maybe it was a where they went for vacation or it belonged to the little girl who lived there 80 years ago, that all we could have guessed.

This is a good family friendly movie, the closes it came to swearing was toward the end of the movie but it was like Sh and then nothing. I don’t think I would recommend it for young children maybe about 7 or older I would say depending on the child.

  • For One More Day

Let me start by saying, I thought I might be bored to tears. For One More Day, I honestly think Oprah could have done better. Sorry I know that sounds harsh but I have watch things with her in it or that she been a part of and it was much better. This movie is very slow movie, and sometimes the plot is hard to follow. Many times my husband and I would ask what’s going on is this a flash back or present time.
The main character was a washed up baseball player, who was on a suicide mission. He got to spend one more day with his mom and find out why things where the way they where. When he came back to he had the cops there, so his mom was pretty much a dream but didn’t seem like it.
My husband and I where at first a little concerned with watching this movie because we just got a bad report from her doctor. We where worried it might just hit way to close to home, it didn’t hit even close to home. The man didn’t respect or treat his mom very kindly never. He was a daddy boy who needed to learn a couple hard lessons from his mom. Personally I didn’t like any of the characters in this movie.
The plot moved very slowly which didn’t give it a real fluidness. Maybe the book is better since it’s based on a book, I don’t know.
What did I like about the movie, at the end he seemed to have realize a little more about life. Even though he was a goat to his mom, she still loved him and was there when he needed her. Maybe this movie would have been better if we had some home theater lighting.

  • The Ruins

I will start by saying I was surprised it wasn’t pulled at and that my husband and I didn’t even want to pull it out. It is rated NC 17, I can understand because there are a couple of very intense scenes on the movie and a little big of nudity, not a lot of it. I will say this movie makes you second think about wanting to scratch a itch while watching it. It was a good type of horror kindof the type that plays with your mind. I like those type of movies the ones which aren’t all bloody all the time and just discussing just to be that way.
There was one scene 2 scenes which where very intense and mad me me want to say no don’t do it, or oh no. One of them was with one of the girls trying to cut the things out of her body. My husband and I when we saw the previews thought it was bugs that where roaming around in their body but it was not, it was actually some kind of cursed plant growing inside of them.
One thing I found interesting was the plant life in the movie, it was very different. But this movie starts it’s horror the same way most other horror movies start off. Get everyone away from any way of helping them and while we are at it lets make it impossible for them to escape from it.
I wouldn’t recommend this for younger teen but I am not sure it needs to be rated NC 17 but they probably doing it for a reason because some of the scenes are fairly intense.
They started from a hotel where they where all safe, I wonder if hotels use Danze faucets.

  • Lakeville 21 Mueller Family Theater

    Posted on by Gav

We all know how expensive going to the movies have become. Last weekend my husband and I wanted to go and watch a movie, so we went to our local movie theater about maybe 10 to 15 minutes away. We soon found out they raised there prices to 10 bucks a ticket and it looked as if they did away with their before 5:00pm cost for a ticket. We don’t mind the cost going up a little, that’s not a big deal. Everything else is going up so we expect it to happen.
We decided to leave because 20$ for both of us to watch a movie with out counting in the snacks we felt would just be to much for us. The snacks normally cost us close to 20$, so this would have been 40$ by the time everything was said and done. My husband and I decided this weekend we would go to Lakeville which is close to a 30 minute drive, something we don’t always like doing because of the price of gas. We have went to Mueller Family Theater a few times, and always felt welcome there but didn’t like the fact that everything had to be paid in cash. My husband and I never really have cash on us at least never enough to watch a movie and pay snacks, so we had to use the ATM and be charged couple bucks for it. My husband and I share the cost, we take turns one of us pays for snacks the other one pays for tickets.
Since the last time we were there they had changed some things, and I have to say it was for the best. They had changed the price of their before 5pm tickets price by 25 cents. That is not bad at all. They also now except debt or credit cards which is the reason why their ticket prices went up. So I felt this was well worth it. It wasn’t a unfair increase and they probably could have went a little more up with out me being unhappy with the increase. So the movie tickets for my husband and i was 12.50$ this isn’t bad at all. It is less then we would have spent close to home, and I think it makes up for the amount of gas we spent going there too.
Now it was time to get snacks. Normally at other places we are stuck with taking the quick picks, and can’t have anything we really want. My husband sometimes like Nachos I am not a big fan of Nachos but they are nice sometimes, at our other place it was at least 4.50, here it was less then that. I had saw some Ice Cream dots I wanted those where 3.50. My husband and I both wanted some Licorice and some sour patch kids, those where less then our other place. I wanted a large pop and I believe that was 3.50 by the end of everything I spend 15.50 on snacks and my husband bought his own drink, which I think is far since usually I ended buying my own drink.
My husband and I saw “The Happening” it was good but very intense. A couple times I had to cover my eyes, and a few times my husband and I both said okay we get the point. I personally like the earlier movies by this director a little better. He received one strike, which shocked us because he always has very creative ways of cussing.
The movie theater was very clean. My husband and I were the only two watching the movie. I hope they get more movie goers finding them, and seeing that they are affordable still and I hope they stay that way. The snack area was clean and both the woman bathroom I was in were clean. I was actually surprised by the amount of cleanlinesses there. There customer service was good, and most everyone one I saw did there job with a smile on there face. When the movie was over they came to clean the room, at least they didn’t have much cleaning to do but the 3 who came to clean had smiles on there faces. When I see people smiling at there job it makes me feel more welcome.
My husband and I have been to enough places together where we have dealt with customer service people who look unhappy and didn’t have a smile, those are the ones we normally wanted to get away from.
There will be some good movies coming out in the next few months, so maybe a gift certificate for a movie would make a good bridesmaid gifts, since more wedding happen in the summer.

I will recommend this movie, and I am surprise I am actually typing this! I will say I do not like Larry the Cable guy. I do not normally care for his type of comedy. So for me to say I will recommend this movie.
Larry, was pretty much a smart idiot. His biggest dream is to become a FBI agent, and he probably would serve it by his actions.
There was a woman in trouble but I think she would have found trouble very easily. Larry eventually got her to see his way of thinking and did it in a creative way. He pretty much ended up kidnapping her. She was not happy but who would be. Larry had a girl friend, who was the only one really normal in the show. I liked her style. Larry had many things in his house I think I might have saw poker tables and there where plenty of wildlife in the movie. He was a animal lover and loved his truck almost as much. There were some actioned filled scenes that made me want to cover my eyes out of concern.

  • The Eye 3

    Posted on by Gav

Let me start by saying it was interesting, we decided to rent 1 and 2 after watching it. It keeps you wondering what she was seeing. It seemed like she might be seeing the past of the person who had the eyes before her.
This film was originally from china or somewhere around there. I think they did a very good job or getting it to relate to American culture and what you would expect to have. The girl who had the eyes donated to her was blind from childhood. She had to go through some training for having recently gained her vision, so when she started sharing what she was seeing ghost. It was terrifying for her, but who would be totally calm and cool with seeing ghost of dead people, I don’t think I would feel so comfortable seeing ghost.
I found the movie to be at times a little gross but not overly gross, I have seen worst. To be honest this is one of the few movies, I haven’t been able to figure it out in the first 10 minutes, which is good. In some parts of the movie the character was strange, and acted strange but who wouldn’t in her condition. There wasn’t many places to laugh, there were a few places where you just want to close your eyes and hope it don’t happen. Overall I enjoyed the movie there was no language or lack of clothes troubles like there are often in Hollywood, they seem to think less clothes is better.
After watching so many movies here I am starting to wonder what home theater carpet would look like in my living room.

  • The Cure

This was a sad movie. It was about a boy who had aides, and the kid who lived next to him. Eric the healthy kid eventually befriends this the kid next door. This is a good movie for family, but I would say it a tear jerker. Eric is picked on a lot by the kids at his school and is pretty much a loner but no wonder with his mother. Both mothers where single parents.
Eric decides he going to find a cure for aides for his friend and they try to get down to New Orleans or somewhere down there. After trying many different things, one of which was poisonous and almost killed his friend. You’d think the mother wouldn’t want Eric around her child because it just be to dangerous to keep him safe, but the two became close like brothers.
Toward the end of the movie both of the mothers have a conversation, and it seems Eric mom changed some. I think this movie got one strike with our 3 strike rule but I am not sure if it was or not my Hubby said he heard it but I heard something else.
This movie shows true friendship and also touches on the misconceptions of what aides is and how it is caught. It wasn’t very clear how he got aides, it was made in 1995 when things where still not really understood about it.
There was a couple of funny senses and a couple that made me think of the boy who cried wolf to many times and then got ate up. In the end this was not really shown to be the case but there was still a lesson in the movie that could be learned. I wouldn’t recommend this for a child who is under 11 years old or one who is not mature enough to understand about life and death.
It not like watching a show on Lasik, it’s more of a real life, this can actually happen.

  • Strange Wilderness

    Posted on by Gav

Okay seriously I lost some IQ points, Strange Wilderness the movie was dumb. It is about a show that would be found on something like animal plant if it wasn’t so horrible. The show is about to be quite because it stinks well it stinks all the way to the end of the movie.
Some parts where so bad that it was actually a little funny. Lets see I think the funniest part was when the turkey attached itself to one of them. Now we know no turkey would do that to someone or at least the attached part might no longer be attached.
This movie hit our 3 strike rule twice, there was really no value in the movie. If I rated it on a scale of 1 through 10 I would give it a 2 because of that one part I thought was funny and because it made me laugh a couple of times.
Sometimes watching movies is like finding auto insurance sometimes it great and sometimes it not so great like tonight.
Lets see their last video was gross, I thought I might have to upchuck with them. I would not recommend this as a family friendly film, I think it would more appeal to people who think gross things are funny.

  • Good shows being canceled

    Posted on by Gav

My husband just sent me a e-mail. I am not to happy with it. There are two programs hubby and I enjoy. One of them Moonlight and the other Jericho both canceled. I am disappointed that Moonlight is canceled.
Moonlight is about a detective Vampire, I think Mick needed to grow more into his role as a Vampire.
What made Moonlight interesting were some of Mick’s friends who were also vampire and Mick’s Xwife coming back to life, after he had thought her dead. He thought he killed her in the beginning of the store, when she tried kidnapping Beth who in love with Mick.
I don’t know I just enjoyed this program because it was more family friendly and entertaining then a lot of things on TV. I think maybe they need the makers of Buffy or Angel to help them a little with keeping some things more consistent, but it still a good show.
Jericho is about a few towns who are lift over after a nuclear war. This was sometimes harder to watch but it was more exciting them some of the other line up on TV. Sometimes it just seemed a little to close to reality so maybe that why they wanted to get read of this show.
I really hope that they rethink canceling Moonlight maybe they try moving it to another night.
I wouldn’t how many HDMI cables they need to keep things running smoothly.
